From the Wells Police Department:

“There have been reports from surrounding agencies of two male subject’s claiming to be from the “Water District” approaching homeowners and requesting access to the kitchen. In one instance a diamond ring was stolen. The subjects left in a black SUV.

To our knowledge this has not occurred in Wells yet. If you are approached by these subjects please call us at 207-646-9354.”


From Ogunquit Police Department:

“At approximately 4pm today (08/31/2017), a Hispanic Male, 40-50 YOA, 5’8” tall with a medium build wearing a ball cap and a dirty white t-shirt with a than stripe and no teeth approached an elderly female on Agamenticus Rd in Ogunquit, requesting access to the kitchen, stating he was from the Water District and needed to check the pipes.

While suspect one distracted the resident, a second Hispanic male also 40-50 YOA, approximately 5”8’ tall with a heavy build also wearing a dirty gray t-shirt and a ball cap entered victim’s bedroom and stole jewelry.

Upon questioning by victim, Suspects fled in a midsized black SUV unknown plate with the rear hatch open. Last seen heading towards RT1.

If anyone had someone claiming to be from the water department recently visit them or has surveillance cameras in the Agamenticus Rd area please call 207-646-9362 or come to the PD.”

While we are currently out canvasing neighborhoods to perform water meter upgrades in the area, please be advised that ALL of our employees will be in clearly marked vehicles and carry photo identification. We do NOT have any black vehicles in our fleet.
