On January 29, 2013 the Water District filed with the Maine Public Utilities Commission an application for an across the board rate increase of 6.3%, scheduled to become effective on April 1, 2013.
The District’s water rate increase is more fully described in its latest edition of What’s on Tap, which went to the printer in mid-January. Since that time, we have more updated information, as follows:
Since the District’s most recent rate increase in April of 2010, the year end Consumer Price Index has risen by 6.32%. Coincidentally, the increase in revenues requested is 6.3%. As with past rate increases (and assuming somewhat stable inflation rates), this increase is anticipated to provide adequate revenues for three years. In the near future (by February 14th) all customers will receive a written notice by mail which further describes scheduling details and customer rights.
You are welcome to attend the Public Hearing, which will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday February 28th at the Brick Store Museum’s Program Center at 4 Dane St. in Kennebunk.
